Lager didn't exist in this country when I started drinking at 14

Most started on Brown Ale, Tolly Cobnut in my case and then progessed to bitter. Unfortunately it was no where as good as real ales today and was soon swamped by the keg revolution of the totally vile Watney's Red barrel.
