HIMARS systems can shoot a number of different missiles

The one that Ukraine want but the US has been reluctant to give is the long range GPS guided one. They have been given the short range GPS one and told they can only use it to attack targets in the Ukraine.

If they get the long range one / permission to f**k up actual Russia, then we are in a whole different ball park because the range from Kherson means Ukraine can take Crimea and hit deep into Russia, cutting off supplies and taking the war to Russian citizens. This is within the context of Russian military being close to collapse already.
