What's the point of sacking him if we have no planned replacement?

I'm actually in the 'Smith should stay' group (just) but I can see why most probably want him out. Not so much on the league table but the way we play - it is numbing at times, made worse of course by how entertaining it was under DF.

However, I also think if you sack someone the replacement needs to have been thought of. That was the issue last season when Daniel was sacked. There was no planning for his successor. We naively assumed the Norwegian guy (highly sought after) would take the job. Awful that we hadn't checked he was actually available. However when we knew he wouldn't come we panicked and appointed DS when Villa sacked him the following day. That wasn't succession planning.

If we did sack Smith (and it is if) I would try to get Mark Robins. A former City hero who has done wonders at Coventry. Given the outside issues that unfortunately constantly Coventry and their ground
+ the fact they have no money for signings - he might, but only might. He is total hero to Sky Blue fans and if he stayed there you couldn't blame him.

Finally a comment on Shakey - fat shaming is awful (and I'm a bit tubby myself), but I do think it might be difficult for the players to totally respect someone as a coach who so clearly hasn't looked after himself - and to be fair to DS he has.
