My dad was a huge railway “buff” and we kind of inherited a bit of info from him. Also
being bought up in Darlington helped. Dad took us out to Bank Top Station to see the last Deltic to go through before the HS125 started and we spent many a day at heritage railways. Although he was a steam fan he appreciated my love of the diesels, his earliest diesels were the GWR railcars he travelled on when he lived in Dorset for a short time after the war. Like most things transport related, to him they were “fabulous”!
