“His players”

I’m not keen on this argument. It has flaws: it would mean that the manager/coach can only work with specific players or types of players, and vice versa. We all work better with more intelligent and harder working colleagues. We’ve all seen these players play better and make fewer mistakes. Even Gibson.

Yes, even Gibson.

I thought he was excellent two seasons ago. Good, progressive passer, consistent, read the game well. Watch him now and you know he’ll commit a couple of calamities at some point. He’s two years older, but he’s not exactly geriatric and pace isn’t the issue anyway, in his game.

So what’s changed? (You know the answer). For me, it must be down to the coaching. They’re playing as if they’re unsure, unclear about each other and not enjoying it.
