Felt like we surprised Preston with a diamond, and they were a bit all over the place for 10 mins, during which we scored.

Their manager quickly figured that out they, and from there they kept it pretty simple. They defended well, played simple balls into the channels we struggled to cope with and pressed much better than we did. We then totally fell into their trap by literally gifting them goals with suicidal passages of play. Easy as pie, and probably exactly what their manager had told them. We won’t need to do much to get chances here.

Bringing Sara on made a difference, but the other subs were very ineffective. Sinani’s first touch terrible, Dowell in the fringes. The best tactical switch was Kenny to left back, which was forced.

Given the relative quality in the squads, struggling to see how I’m supposed to think Smith has bossed this encounter today.
