Polemical, economically illiterate nonsense from the new Govt

Other than Singapore and Switzerland we have the lowest rate of corporation tax in the G20. If investment is low, it’s not because our onerous tax rates are putting investors off.

All this will do is cannibalise investment that would have happened anyway and move it to places where usual planning/environment rules basically don’t apply. Put it another way, it’s simply a give away to business owners who would otherwise be required to pay the normal (low) rate of tax and adhere to the usual rules a large bung. The likelihood that most beneficiaries will be Tory donors? 100%. Benefits to ordinary people in and around these zones? Nil.
