And get the club to pay off their purchase ( by staying successful enough to pay down the debt alongside operating costs ) then 'investment' in a club makes sense.

Otherwise it's effectively a gamble in buying cheap and selling high.

The balance sheets of clubs would make no sense in any other industry.

I dunno, maybe theatre?
