Its about squad balance

Carragher is selected as one of 4 centre backs, and is 1st in line to replace ferdinand or Terry. therefore right back cover is needed in the form of Hargreaves, who also doubles up as defensive midfield cover for Carrick. Jenas offers defensive midfield cover and right midfield cover for Beckham (If Sven decides to play "tight" if he attacks he has the option of Lennon on the right.)

Its all well and good saying take SWP etc, but what would be the point if he was behind Beckham & Lennon? He can only play in one position wheras Jenas and Hargreaves offer options. We would all love to see loads of attack minded players in the squad but balance is important.

I think Sven has got the balance of his squad spot on, plenty of options for different systems and plenty of cover for positions. Its just a shame Jenas wasnt a better player!!!!!!!!
