We dealt too late so the squad couldn't bed in properly (according to Worthington) and paid over the odds for some shocking players.

Also, if there really are some bargains to be had, surely it's better to get in their first and try and beat the competition? If a player is good enough/willing to come here, chances are he'd be willing/good enough to go to about half a dozen other Championship clubs. Too late if they've beaten us to his signature.
