Insectmaggedon
Unlikely to see / hear many grasshoppers near agricultural land due to pesticides. Grasshoppers look like miniature locusts and only call in sunny weather. Still about in semi wild pasture and “wasteland”, also sand dunes, nature reserves, heathland, some roadside verges. Bush-crickets are the high pitched chirpy ones, found in hedges and verges, call more in pm and around dusk. Can often occur around the edges of gardens.
