To align with the price cap change and some other stuff, but dont believe they have told us yet how it will be implemented

Hopefully it will just be added to energy account, but not affect direct debits unless you ask, so it will just sit there until accounts are reconciled and you’re due a refund (or it reduces any shortfall)

This would be the most sensible thing to do anyway.

But as most people then won’t actually notice that it has been done, I expect Govt will create a more visible (and difficult/expensive to implement) solution.
