But the reason we're going down this season is because we spent 70m - seventy f**king million - on absolute garbage. Players that have not made us in any way shape or form better. Players that were not fit. Players that were obviously not what we needed. Players, in many cases, that since they have arrived have barely made the matchday squad, and ended up behind academy kids who have never played in the Prem. Don't ask me how its possible to sign 9 (I think it was) players and not really have ONE of them make us particularly better. But we did.

The model should have - i would go as far as to say DID - allow us to compete this season. It's just that Webber and the scouts f**ked the money up against the wall, despite identifying targets that were obviously pretty much what we needed in the first instance, then inexplicably deciding to keep our powder dry so we could waste it all later. It was all in Bailey's quite wonderful article.

Farke wanted a CB, a DCM and a Striker. The clubs gave him two left wingers, three loans that were totally not what we needed (and in two cases, often injured half arsed) and a ginger striker with a history of never scoring goals.

Yeah, if we had Elon Musk giving us £100m a year it would make things easier. But had enough in us to compete this year with the bottom 6. It's just that we absolutely f**ked it all up.

Now, while I think all that is true, I still have a beef with Delia and how the club is run, to do with an Exec team run by a married couple with almost no external checks and balances. Fucking wake up and sort that out pronto.
