Nowhere near worst ever, not even top (bottom?!) 5

94-95 was the worst, the utter pits. It was just so completely unexpected! Two great seasons before, one of our best ever teams. OK we sold Sutton in the summer but we were still great and top five at Christmas. How did we get relegated from there?? I still remember the awful sick feeling of losing week after week after week … surely we couldn’t go down … surely … no … NO …NOOOOOOO … oh gosh I feel sick just thinking about it now.

Then “on loan to the Endsleigh” and genuinely thinking we’d just come straight back. The wilderness years of mid table nothingness, no money, no stars, no optimism, Rioch, Hamilton. Tumbleweed years. Losing on penalties in Cardiff and thinking we might be finished financially.

I think the relegation that hurt second most was the first Farke one. We had STORMED the champs playing some of the best football I had ever seen a City side play. We looked like a prem side in the champs, and I had such real hope. Then we were just rubbish. It was so deflating.

This one? Meh. I knew we’d be crap again. We’d lost Emi and Skipp. Farke was known to be clueless in the prem. The new signings didn’t gel and weren’t what we needed. We were down by October. It’s been inevitable and it’s been nothing like as bad as other ones because I didn’t really ever expect anything else.
