But anyway, it's perfectly possible to reasonably separate his life view and his work at Norwich.

As I said, I'm not actually that fussed about the mountain climbing - but I do think that his Norwich comments are poor and the complete absence of any recognition that this has been a dreadful season is unhelpful.
