I honestly wonder what this really achieves

How is somebody playing tennis going to affect the war? Unless the plan is to unveil Ukrainian flags, allow the players to wear little Ukraine flags on their shorts, and have a minute's silence for the Ukrainian people for example which may well then trigger a response from a Russian tennis bod I guess. But then we don't mix sport and politics do we? Oh.

All the world leaders repeating the mantra that their enemy is Putin and not the Russian people while at the same time preventing them from playing at sports tournaments.

As somebody posted below I am also a bit concerned that it's more likely to strengthen the Russian view that the West is generally anti-Russian.

I mean, if somebody asked that on the question of whether the West was currently anti-Russia rather than just anti-Putin, given that our media keeps repeating that this is not the case, yet Russian media were claiming the opposite, who would you say was telling the truth and who was pushing propaganda? I don't think that's actually an easy one to answer.
