First day of the cricket season, win the toss and bowl

Ignoring for the purposes of this post everything else going on in the world...

I am optimistic about my Summer teams.

Hampshire have kept our bowling unit together with Abbas for several matches early season and added a couple of batsmen. We are not favourites but could have a good run at our first championship since 1973 when Creo and I were young.

Toronto blue Jays missed out on last year's baseball playoffs by a tiny margin and lost the best pitcher in the American League and a very strong third baseman. Unlike a certain team I could mention, they were able to come up with more than adequate replacements and are widely tipped to win the hardest division in baseball and maybe the thing.

Nothing like the optimism of a day before a season begins. BY this time Saturday I could be convinced it will all go wrong.
