A far more powerful thing would have been to do nothing and then use his speech to call out intolerance of conditions. That would have been incredibly powerful and made Chris Rock look ridiculous.

Instead he made it about himself, and we should not advocate to allow this type of behaviour to be applauded.

This "no man should allow his woman" business is so patriarchal and echoes the whole argument of man as the protector of his little woman
