Im going to politely disagree

The leaders of the Prem have strongly encouraged anything - anything at all - that brings more money into the league. Because then the league hoovers up an even bigger share of the best players, becomes “better” and a whole cycle of positive reinforcement ensues. Better players, better results in Europe, more viewers, bigger tv deals, biggest deals with the biggest sponsors, more money, even better players…. And so on.

It started with the break away to form the Prem in the first place. Higher ticket prices. Moving games whenever it suits tv companies. Never speaking out about changing every kit every year. When Abramovic turned up, he was welcomed with open arms as part of this. Ditto Abu Dhabi at Man City. Fenway. The Glazers. It just doesn’t matter, as long as they’re tipping money into the league. What else? The 39th game abroad? All of the Prem bosses just want more money tipped into the game regardless of what it means, as it means more money for them directly and more money for the army of agents and other middle men feasting on the game. They have actively chased that money whenever they can. And they have opened the door to every crook and gangster.

Which brings us to Newcastle and Saudi Arabia. A genuinely abhorrent decision. Go read about the war in Yemen. Look up Bin Salman on Wikipedia, and marvel at the fourteen “controversies” with which he is personally associated.

He is a butcher. A murderer. A cruel and repressive dictator. And every week, Shearer and the entire football circus cream their pants about how wonderful it is. Sports washing doesn’t even come close.

Bigger. Better. More money. We all just want more money. And in the end, it leads to Abramovic and Chelsea. And yes, the dubious merit of Man City and their Middle Eastern money. And welcoming the Saudis into Newcastle as a wonderful positive.

The whole f**king thing stinks, it’s wrecked the competitive structure of the game, and it’s left the morality of the Premier league in the gutter. And if you ask me, it starts with the games leaders, and the culture and ethos they have pushed from the start.
