How much did he buy Godfrey, Lewis and Maddison for?

I find it difficult to praise him for selling players for record fees that other people brought to the club.

To be fair to him, he did do an amazing job at getting so much for the Murphy's, but the 3 mentioned above pretty much sold themselves.
