I always thought that while he ruled with

an iron fist within Russia, he was a bit more savvy with regards to how he played the rest of the world.

It does all give weight to the idea that he's lost the plot and gone rogue. The best possible ending to this will have to come from within Russia. A good chunk of the Russian people seem to be against it, will the police and military follow suit?
