I do understand the desire to bring through a new generation of fast bowlers, but you these two are not just all time greats, they are currently our best bowlers. It also looks a bit like (yet again) blaming the bowlers for the batsmen's failings.
Also a bit puzzled at dropping Malan (who at least made a score or two) and Hameed (who perhaps deserve a chance against slightly less top notch bowling).
In a controversial move, I'd have made Anderson captain and given Root a rest from it. Although one wonders if perhaps Root wanted a rest from Broad and Anderson...
