I do agree. There are moments and examples of clubs and their fans having a lovely time. Tip of the hat to those long suffering Forest fans, who are I bet loving it!

But I’m increasingly thinking most of these are pretty temporary and, arguably, illusory. Fulham fans for example. Right now, it’s amazing, and I’m sure they’re enjoying it greatly. But don’t you think that, in the back of their mind, they know what’s coming. It’s either a thoroughly s**t season and relegation. Or a thoroughly s**t season and scraping to survival. And if it’s survival, then the same will apply next season, and it will be s**t either way. And if they’re lucky. Really really lucky. They might, just, if they stay up enough times, be able to scrap to a position where they’re 14th or so regularly. And yes, it’s s**t, but they’re safe. But even that’s s**t, arguably even more s**t, as it now isn’t even exciting.

And you can’t even go in a cup run these days, as the mega clubs second teams are so powerful they can beat every team other than the other elite teams.

Sigh.
