I don’t think yesterday’s team was DF’s team - or at least not the one I

would have liked to see him go on and mould as I witnessed him doing in different seasons. They were just raw products that have needed a lot of working with - but have shown signs of potential. As you say, too much was against DF from the start and time is so short in the PL but I do wonder what he’d have made out of this squad.

I agree with all of your points. The defensive midfielder thing is a huge problem and I can’t help but agree with DF with his dropping of Gilmour - he seems such a weak link to me - but I’m hesitant to criticise players as what do I know? There’s perhaps some vital role he’s doing but I’m missing
