losing to Leicester and Arsenal in matches we might have been able to get something from was the problem. By the time we played Watford they had confidence and ours was shot. With the confidence gone the pretty football (and yes it was so so good previous seasons) was never going to have any hope in the Premiership.
Bigger problem though - in my view - was that we were not prepared to push the boat out even a bit for a proper defensive midfielder (presume Billing was the target) and a centre back (Ajer I guess). Hence at the very end of the window we took Normann but he came with injuries and a big risk factor concerning how often he could play. We knew that, however so did all the other clubs hence why he was still available.
We all loved DF's possession based silky soccer but the fixtures at the start of the season and lack of players in vital defensive roles essentially stuffed both us and him. DS has given us a chance, not necessarily much of one but a chance nonetheless. Get next w/e out of the way and we will see just how much of a chance it actually is.
