A buddy of mine did something similar around here.

He bought some land on one of the San Juan Island (near Seattle) and has built a tiny home on a wheeled platform (to avoid needing planning permission). He bought a mill and cut all the planks from trees in his land. He also drilled a well, installed solar/batteries, connected a pump, built a shower, toilet and workshed.

Basically, a bunch of stuff he self-taught himself!
