I think sacking farke can be right even if smith doesn’t turn out to be the one

Farke has great success based on Emi Buendia being brilliant in the championship, it wouldn’t be right to compare the output of farke with Buendia to the output of smith without Buendia.

Farke’s style just wasn’t going to work in the prem. smith’s might, but more suitable personnel required.
