FWIW...Most Tornadoes are NOT in the deep south.

Tornado alley is basically the midwest.
Most houses are traditionally built out of wood because..... errr... Wood is an available and plentiful resource.
Most houses stand up pretty well to most storms outside of tornadoes which will f**k anything up. (see pictures for details!)
Its not just houses that get flattened but anything in its path such as factories and warehouses.
