and I’m surprised you got rid as fast as you did. Evans ran you down over so long it’s going to take a couple of years to get back on track. However the structural changes seem sound, more focus on your academy which honestly is one of the few things you literally could just throw some more money at and it would improve, ground improvement and fan engagement and so on…I’d have given Cook this season honestly but you are where you are. At least your owners are decent people, unlike a lot of the rich owners in football - Newcastle is both appalling and the logical conclusion of some other people who’ve been allowed to buy clubs.

I tend to think you’d do better with a Bright Young Thing than with one of the perennial drain circlers. I don’t have any actual names in mind. Going with a former club favourite player rarely works out (we know!).

Where I went to school we were half us lot and half you lot (this was Gorleston). So it’s always been more of a sibling rivalry for me.
