I don't think the Christmas do cancellation has much to do with omicron

Much rather that people don't want spend time catching covid from their colleagues (many of whom they're probably not too fussed about socialising with) and then messing up their proper Christmas.

And I think it was pretty clear some time ago that you can't catch it outside, it's a disease of enclosed, poorly ventilated, spaces.
