Was discussing this with my son the other day.

As Pinkney says - it comes from foreign players/managers. I think they are directly translating English phrases in to their own language and back again but they don't quite work back in English.

So, I think when they say 'moment' it is a confusion with 'at the moment' - ie 'we are doing well at the moment'.
