Anyone mechanic types on here?
Just driven down to Norfolk from Yorkshire for the game tomorrow and my car (2009 Ford Focus) seems to have developed a few issues:
1. Vibrating clutch pedal - First noticed this approx 2 weeks ago, however the vibrations are only slight (noticeable when resting foot gently on pedal) and I didn't know if it was a problem or I was just imagining it.
2. Engine revving high - Again, first started around 2 weeks ago but fairly infrequently and I just assumed I was riding the clutch whilst accelerating. Much worse on the drive down today though, most changes up were followed by revving to various degrees (definitely not riding the clutch) although usually dropped back to normal revs after a few secs.
3. Gear changes - Most noticeable when changing down, particularly into 3rd or into 1st when come to a stop, very hard to put into gear (to the extent that the gearstick had to be pushed quite firmly).
The car also seemed to be a bit down on power, particularly when pulling away in 1st or when cruising at 60 / 70 although that's perhaps because of the revving. Also, the clutch felt much heavier (?) at times and as if the biting point had moved.
Obviously I'll be taking the car to the garage next week, however I was wondering a) if anyone might be able to venture as suggestion as to the likely issue and b) reassure me that I'll be okay driving back home on Sunday morning.
Cheers
