There is apparently already a more spreadable mutation of the delta doing the rounds but the symptoms are actually less severe so you need a lot more detail/investigation before everyone panics.

I’m glad though they are now doing what they should have done in the first place and shutting down travel from areas where these variants emerge immediately til the situation becomes clearer. Rather than giving it a month then stopping it!
