My view....

Is he didn’t know how lucky he was to come through in a farke side.

His technical attributes were highly valued (and equally valuable), in a way that they might not immediately be in a more all action style.

If he’s to be a top player, he’ll adapt and thrive. I can’t see why he wouldn’t be capable of that, but work required to do that.
