Lots of praise for Smith, a suggestion that a change might help with something extra for Brentford to go to the next level (which has proven the case). So is the fact that Smith wasn't able to achieve that at Brentford a blot, or simply a fact of where they were when he took over and part of the process they were on.

This article (admittedly the first I found and not necessarily representative) seems to go along with what I said in my post
