it's an 'examine everything' role really

It'd be like getting in another Webber to audit the structure we have in place - is it actually sensible, are the coaches we have in place aregood enough and are they coaching the right things (eg, do we actually have anyone covering set up for corners), is the pre match preparation is right, what additiona resources need to be brought in, etc

It's not the exact scenario you're talking about but it's the closest I've seen. I can't think of any mentor-like examples at the top level.

Might be something the NFL structures cope with more? You have defined offensive and defensive co-ordinators that can be sacked whilst keeping the head coach in place.

I've often wondered if the issue is that Farke is actually fine but it's his coaching team that is rubbish. However you don't often see coaching units broken up as they often come as a package.
