A girl who Gemma used to know via golf was a serial liar / fantasist

Started with stories that were semi-believable but soon escalated into having a fantasy boyfriend who had a terminal disease. One of her best pals spent quite some time with some clever detective work and tracked the guy down, who supposedly was very ill.

Turned out he did exist, and he had once has been out for a casual drink with this girl a couple of years previously – nothing more. He was very surprised to find out he was suffering from a terminal disease.

They confronted her, she confessed to this. But then it started again soon after with some other mad story. Gemma ended up with the view thinking she couldn’t help it and this fantasy world she had created for herself was just part of the way she was.
