We have to consistenly create chances that Pukki scores without Buendia or Vrancic laying it on... I feel like Gilmour, Cantwell and Dowell can all do it.
We need almost 0 injuries or suspensions to our first choice back 4 as the squad currently stands.
We need any combination of McLean, PLM, Rupp, Gilmour and Sorensen to be a robust defensive screen both in front of the back four and beside the centre backs when the full backs get caught high up the field (this is the bit I'm most worried about).
I'd say 4 out of the 6+ new signings need to perform at their expectations or we're screwed. Rashica needs to score and create a few and retain possession if he doesn't (rather than cough up possession by running down blind alleys or screwing a shot at the corner flags).
Gilmour needs to be the reincarnation of Pirlo.
Josh Sargent needs to really seize his opportunities. Turn Pukki back into the number 10 he was originally envisioned as and lead the line for a good chunk of the season.
PLM needs to be as good in competitive games as he has been in friendlies.
I've got high hopes for Rupp, Dowell and Dimi too but they all have question marks.
I love the way Rupp plays but he needs to stay fit.
Dowell needs to add some defensive grafting.
Dimi needs to watch old Adam Drury videos as his one v one defending does make my bumhole pucker up a bit.
