I’ve just seen that too. My thoughts…

1. The gesture has long outstayed its welcome for me. It made the point at the right point in time but now feels like it’s just another thing people do. I’m not sure it’s a gesture that serves a purpose anymore.

2. Don’t agree with booing it though. If you don’t like it, ignore it. Be respectful.

3. I can’t for the life of me see where we are going with the whole anti-racism movement. I’m a bit CBeebies on this.

So it’s not enough now to just not be racist? Now you have to be anti-racist too? So you have to actively show that you are not racist and if you don’t participate, then you are racist?

Is that how it works because from my limited dealings in this are as a people leader in my company, this is the path it’s going from the lectures we are getting from our HR department. I’ve literally seen people harassed by HR and ER reps at our last people and diversity conference for not getting involved in the anti-racism campaign.

It’s fairly simple isn’t it? Just be f**king nice to people and punish those that don’t. Don’t drag everyone else into a witch hunt if they don’t want/need to be involved.
