It is not standing on a ball
A shield design features in literally hundreds of football logos
Their 2021 shirt uses this logo, so is obviously for products.

You could be confused, but only if:
you ignored the words Hitchin Town FC
you ignored the 1865 date
you ignored the lack of a football
you ignored the lack of a lion & castle
you ignored the turned head of the canary
and you expected to buy Norwich merch from the Hitchin Town website, or the home ground of Hitchin FC.
