This year's Premier League table explains why the Big 6 want the ESL
In any year the top 4 go into CL and so even if the “Big6” finish top 6 then 2 will miss out.
This year it’s possible that only 2 of them will finish in top 6 so 4 will miss out so of course they are all of terrified that they can easily miss out on top 4 and want the CL money hence. Under ESL rules Arsenal currently in 9th still get into the ESL and neither Leicester nor West ham qualify.
I’m not sure what benefits there are to them having even more money as they already have most of the best players between them and teams like Man City can simply buy whoever they want already.
If they are allowed to stay in the Premier League and Cups then the gulf to even the other rich teams widens considerably. And in reality, it simply means a player on £10m a year will get £15m or more.
What happens to the other countries’ champions like France or Germany, presumably they still go into the champions league as usual. Also, would top team in England who are not the big 6 qualify for Champions league, especially of those big 6 are allowed to stay in premier league?
