It's just the extra customs duty (plus VAT on that) to cover.

The thing to watch out for is that you're not paying VAT on top of VAT. I.e. that the price you're paying to the German vendor is reduced to reflect there being no German VAT due.

Sounds like you're on top of that though from your original post.

The vendor might account for the UK VAT, but more likely it will be left to the courier, in which case there will be an admin fee too.
