If Byram was actually fit (I know, I know), I think he'd be

a better Prem RB for us than Max because he's more solid defensively, and that's what we need in the Prem.

So we need someone like that to replace him. A good defender who is also *good enough* going forward. From what I've seen of Mumba, he's more like Max.
