Effulgent, effervescent effluent
1) Which famous Briton (1857-1934) is buried in Malvern, Worcs? It's an enigma, no it isn't, its only Eddy "Edward" Elgar
2) In which film did John Hurt play the part of Joseph Merrick? The Huffalump Bor. Or the Elephant Man. Yeah, that one.
3) What name connects the book Wuthering Heights with a former Norwich Striker? It's me, it's Fernie, the tumbling Robert Fearnsworthy. Earnshaw, that was him
4) In America, what award is the TV equivalent of an Oscar? In a tribute to sufferers of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis everywhere the MEs, often written Emmys
5) To which island off Italy was Napoleon first exiled? Not his knee, not his arse, but his Elba. As he said: able I was ere I saw Elba
6) Which famous Greek Mathematician is known as 'the father of Geometry'? Are you klidding me, it's Euclid, though non-Euclidean geometries are much more fun
7) Which female singer was backed by the Miami Sound Machine? Better than the Miami Bit Flaky Machine, Gloria Estefan
8) The Temple of Artemis (one of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World) is still - partially - standing. Where in Turkey is it? St Paul wrote to the Ephesians but didn't mention the bloody great temple at Ephesus which was a bit odd really, but then so was some of the stuff he wrote, so I guess that's it really
9) Which - slightly less successful - TV show did Ricky Gervais create to follow up 'The Office'? Extra, Extra, read all about it, it's Extras
10) Who first started his career as a stand up comic in the early 1980's with the line "I'm an alternative comedian, I won't make you laugh"? Guess, but Ben Elton. Saw him back in the day and laughed like a drain. Saw him on the telly more recently and honestly couldn't figure out what I had found so funny. Didn't even crack a smile. Either I'm just older and more miserable or he was always s**t and I was always too pissed to realise it.
Effusive expressions as ever, Saucy x
