the thought process of some people is very weird

cognitive dissonance and that i know but 5,6,7 hundred deaths a day in the uk is seemingly brushed aside by some people as nonsense yet in real terms it's like two or three choc full boeing 737s crashing every single day on uk soil and killing all on board. if that happened i'd guess people would be kind of wary about boarding a plane maybe? especially if it had been going on pretty much every single day since the start of the year.
