He captured something different to the usual Crowded House thing. It has a warmth, a vibe and an atmosphere that's just not there on every other CH album. That's not a criticism of CH by the way, I'm a big fan.
Bob Clearmountain mixed it. You mix what you're given. The real magic happens in the recording process.
