I don't think we'll ever be solid under Farke
He aims to play a style of football similar to the top clubs in Europe. Being on the front foot and dominating possession.
But that inevitably leaves you exposed to counter attacks. Top clubs cope with this because they've got defenders who are comfortable defending 1v1 and, well, are the best defenders in the world. We have Hanley and Gibson, who are decent at this level, but are still going to make mistakes fairly often when faced with quick transitions.
It's just a trade off for our attacking play, imo. One of the biggest mistakes we made last season was trying to be more solid. Only to end up completely nullifying our attacking threat, without actually improving much at the back.
The big thing which definitely needed improving is defending from set pieces. And I think we've made steps in the right direction this season, although its probably still a bit too early to say whether or not we've solved the issue.
