I think we'll eventually discover that that life is everywhere

probably carried around the universe in amino acids and basic microbial life on comets and asteroids and is far more tolerant to what we consider extreme environments.

Intelligent life? Definitely. Whether it's possible for lifeforms to traverse interstellar distances is the only real doubt, but if not, they could already be influencing life here in various manners by sending protons to us, which travel at light speed obvs
