I think your father’s right. It might be time for town centres to be about the townspeople - homes, schools, medical centres (cottage hospitals used to be smack bang in there), workplaces - offices don’t need to be on out of town parks, and then the services shops like coffee outlets, hairdressers etc. We keep trying to rebuild the high street by focusing on retail - and yet this might be much nicer
