& to continue the thought
what if the majority decided to determine the remaining games by some absurd means - tossing a coin, or playing tiddlywinks - which they might, for entirely self-interested reasons? Would that be unfair, and if so why? Perhaps because as a means of determining football matches it's inherently unfair, or better maybe, that's it's unfair to those (a specific group) who face the greatest/real risk of harm - it's the combination of inadequate means & risk.
Anyway, something liike that.
